Doon Bay

This is Doon Bay near Kirkcudbright this afternoon. Kester and I went there for an hour or so while Arthur was at nursery. The beach had been badly affected by the New Year storms and high tides and the shore was covered in storm debris. After filling the bags I had with the usual beach litter to take away – rubber gloves, plastic twine, bottles… I thought a fair return was to scavenge some firewood. After a little effort and exercise I gleaned enough storm-torn branches to fill the boot and bring home for chopping into firewood to season for future winter storms.

I also took a few photos of the mix of land and sea and gathered some smaller pieces of driftwood to use in a craft project (these are now drying out in the Rayburn).
